Religious Education

Religious Education at Salcombe Church of England Primary School.

At Salcombe Church of England Primary School, we follow the Devon and Torbay Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education (RE), ensuring a broad, balanced, and inclusive curriculum that reflects the diverse beliefs and worldviews in our society.

Aligned with our Sailing to Success values, our RE curriculum encourages pupils to explore big questions, develop respect for different faiths and beliefs, and reflect on their own values and identity. Through engaging lessons, discussions, and enquiry-based learning, children deepen their understanding of Christianity and other world religions, as well as non-religious worldviews such as Humanism.

The syllabus promotes critical thinking, empathy, and personal reflection, helping pupils to navigate the complexities of faith, belief, and morality in today’s world. By fostering curiosity, respect, and open-mindedness, we aim to equip children with the knowledge and skills to become thoughtful, informed, and compassionate individuals.
