Music at Salcombe Church of England Primary School

At Salcombe Church of England Primary School, we follow the Charanga Music scheme, ensuring a dynamic, inclusive, and engaging approach to music education.

Aligned with our Sailing to Success values, Charanga encourages pupils to develop creativity, confidence, and a love for music through interactive lessons, singing, composition, and instrumental work. The scheme fosters resilience, collaboration, and self-expression, helping children explore music from different cultures and traditions.

    Through structured progression, pupils:

    • Persevere in developing musical skills, from rhythm to notation.
    • Think critically about musical elements, styles, and composition.
    • Work collaboratively, engaging in ensemble performances and group activities.
    • Develop confidence in expressing themselves through music.

By embedding British Values and cultural appreciation, we ensure pupils understand the power of music in storytelling, identity, and community, preparing them for a lifelong enjoyment of music.
