Mission, Strategy, Vision and Purpose

Our School Mission, Vision and Strategy

As a small school, at Salcombe we celebrate each pupil's individuality. 'Saily to Success' is used as a metaphor for the journey of life for our pupils. Our geographical location has influenced this theological awareness, as pupils explore their place in a coastal setting comparatively to that of the wider world. Just as a ship sets sail on a voyage it cannot predict what events may appear during its course. It is our belief that this can be true of a child's journey throughout their education. By equipping them with the school's key skills of determination, independence and teamwork we are preparing them for this journey. Our curriculum aims to inspire our children to flourish in the 21st century and aligns with the vision statement of the trust and school and the Church of England's Vision for Education.

Catching the wind

Our curriculum provision offers children a breadth of opportunity to become rounded people; intellectually, physically, emotionally and spiritually. We tailor our provision to enable children to find their strengths and enthusiasms so that their learning can become exhilarating and inspiring.

Part of a crew

The best fleets have a clear sense of direction and draw upon the expertise of others to maximise their success. In the same way ‘Team Salcombe’ work together to enhance children’s’ learning experience. Good relationships are at the heart of what we do and we expect children to contribute to the leadership of our school.

Navigating the seas

We want our children to become principled, ethical and thoughtful citizens through exploring ideas and values for themselves. As a church school, with a Christian foundation, we draw on the teachings of Jesus as a sources of inspiration.

Deeply anchored

The school’s Christian foundation is deeply embedded in the gospel values. We want our children to be equipped to weather the storms of life through their own resilience, developing good friendships and knowing where to draw on help from others.

The Ethos of our Federation

The First Federation believes firmly that Christian principles must underpin all our work with children.  We want our children to grow up in our school to understand the Christian values of love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control identified in Galatians Chapter 5 verses 22,23.

We recognise each school's historic foundation and will preserve and develop their religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Churches at parish and diocesan level.

Each school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.  It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.
