Salcombe prides itself on its broad and balanced curriculum and strives for excellence in all areas.
The documents below tell you about our pedagogical approaches that achieve high-quality teaching and high expections as well as the skills and knowledge that the children will learn at our school.

At Salcombe CE Primary School, we provide a rich, ambitious and carefully sequenced curriculum that builds progressively from EYFS to Year 6, leaning on our school context and ensures that children develop the knowledge, vocabulary, skills and understanding they need to succeed. We place reading at the heart of our curriculum, recognising it as the gateway to learning and a lifelong source of enjoyment, imagination and opportunity.
Our curriculum is rooted in our values of Service, Aspiration, Integrity and Love. We seek to develop children who are curious about the world, proud of who they are, respectful of others and courageous enough to embrace challenge. Through a broad range of enrichment experiences, real-life opportunities and meaningful connections with our local community and wider world, we ensure that children build experiences and cultural capital alongside their academic knowledge.
We believe every child can achieve highly. Our curriculum is therefore inclusive and responsive, removing barriers to learning while maintaining high expectations for all. We deliberately revisit and connect learning so that children remember more, understand more deeply and can apply what they have learned in new contexts.
Ultimately, our curriculum aims to ensure that every child leaves Salcombe ready for the next stage of their education, equipped with a strong foundation of knowledge, a love of learning and the confidence, character and aspirations to make a positive difference in the world.
